Our Subject Leader for Art and Design is Mrs Barden.
Our Art and Design curriculum aims to stimulate and challenge children's imagination and creativity, whilst promoting a careful appreciation of the world around them.
Our curriculum is created to ensure all children have broad and balanced experiences using art and design techniques which are built upon year by year - these are categorised into the broad skills areas of drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and printmaking. They also learn about artists, crafts makers and designers – local, national and international, from across a range of cultures and periods in time, and use these influences to explore and develop their own creative ideas.
Their knowledge is linked to subject matter from other curriculum areas, and is plotted through our series of informative knowledge organisers.
We also enhance our curriculum provision through trips to galleries and museums, visits from local artists, and putting on our own art galleries!
